Business Central – a complete business system in the cloud

Business Central – a complete cloud-based business system Business Central is a comprehensive, cloud-based business system that brings your entire operation together – from finance and sales to inventory, manufacturing, and projects. Everything is connected in a single solution, giving you full control, better oversight, and more reliable decision-making data. You can quickly get started with the features you need and easily grow as your business expands. Add more users, modules, and smart services as the need arises. You only pay for what you use – and the monthly fee includes everything, including IT operations and maintenance. Since Business Central is part of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform, you can seamlessly integrate the system with other Microsoft apps like Power BI, Teams, and Outlook. This way, you create a fully integrated and modern digital work environment.

Business Central is specifically designed for small and medium-sized businesses and offers powerful functionality for finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, project management, and production. Previously known as Dynamics NAV, the solution is built on proven technology – now further developed for the cloud. With Business Central, you get a unified platform for the entire business: accounting, payments, invoicing, order management, purchasing, and inventory. The system also includes advanced features for analysis and reporting, providing deeper insights into the company's performance and supporting data-driven decisions. By automating routine tasks and streamlining processes, Business Central contributes to increased productivity and smoother workflows. The solution is easy to implement, customize, and integrate – both with other Microsoft applications and external systems – to meet the specific needs of your business.

Both Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management and Business Central are part of Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 platform, which makes it possible to expand with more applications and services as needed. The platform is scalable, flexible, and provides a comprehensive view of the business – for smarter decisions and increased efficiency. What is the difference between the older versions and BC?

The biggest difference between NAV/Navision and Business Central is the infrastructure that the systems are built on. D365 is largely a cloud-based ERP solution hosted by Microsoft Azure, whereas the slightly older systems are mainly desktop applications with certain web and mobile add-ons. This means that BC can be used anywhere from any device as long as there is internet access – significantly improving system accessibility whether you are out in the field or sitting in the office/at home. The new interface also enhances the user experience and encourages much more collaboration with other users. BC can also be integrated with most applications within the Microsoft 365 platform, such as CRM, Power BI, and Power Apps, which we at Sherpas think is great. This means that companies get a comprehensive solution within Microsoft 365 regardless of the tasks that need to be handled.

The cloud-based solution also means that new features and system updates are more frequent.

The licensing model for BC is different; the flexible pricing model allows users to save money on user and device licenses.

Combine Dynamics 365 ERP and CRM

When you implement your Microsoft Dynamics ERP solution, you get a powerful platform that provides improved operational control, efficiency, and simplicity in everyday work. The foundation is that all data is gathered in one place – creating a single source of truth and strengthening the basis for decision-making throughout the organization. Furthermore, if you choose Dynamics 365 as your CRM, you get a fully integrated solution where ERP and CRM work seamlessly together. This provides a unified user experience and a workflow that connects all parts of the business – from sales and customer service to finance, operations, and projects. With seamless integrations, you can manage sales, customer service, field service, production, finance, and marketing all within a single platform. This reduces the need for manual processes and eliminates unnecessary duplication of work.

One of the biggest advantages of Dynamics 365 is that end users no longer have to spend time entering data into spreadsheets – which also reduces the risk of errors. The modern and user-friendly interface makes it easy to work, while it can be customized according to roles and permissions. This way, each user gets access to the right tools and the right information – no more, no less. Enhance value with Microsoft Power Platform Together with Microsoft Power Platform – which consists of Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate – you can take Dynamics 365 to the next level. Power BI provides powerful analysis and visualization tools that transform data into insights and help you make data-driven decisions. Power Apps allows you to quickly create your own apps that automate processes, streamline workflows, and adapt to your specific needs – without the need for heavy development.

Power Automate helps you automate routine tasks and create intelligent workflows that connect systems and services, allowing you to focus on value-creating work.

Together, Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform create a comprehensive solution that provides increased productivity, better decision-making data, and a more flexible business.

With our experience in industry-specific integrations and Dynamics implementations, we help you build the business system solution you deserve – scalable, efficient, and future-proof.
